This beautiful building with decorative touches rationalist art - deco is located near the intersection of Avenida Diagonal and Calle Balmes .

Although it is not in the best possible of conservation , and the paint is peeling facade, the truth is that it's worth going to see a good work of the brilliant Catalan architect Ramón Puig i Gairalt .

This built during the Second Republic, is named Houses Pidelaserra, in honor of Mariano Pidelaserra (1877-1946) one of the most important Impressionist painters of Catalonia.


Note that Puig i Gairalt (1886 -1937) is a major architect for Barcelona, \u200b\u200bbut even more to his hometown of Hospitalet de Llobregat where his brother (Also an architect) and signed more than 1500 projects to improve the living conditions of citizens through functional and modern buildings, giving special emphasis on hygiene, the source of many problems in Spain in the twenties and thirties.


Puig i Gairalt was also known as the architect of the "Skyscraper of Collblanc " a rationalist building homes in 1927 surprised everyone by its height and dimensions, all standard in the architecture of the time, and all a precedent for other buildings larger as the Building Fabregas Urquinaona Square , known as the first skyscraper in the city and which we have already spoken on this blog.
